February 2nd

Groundhog Day is February 2nd. It is said that if the groundhog sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of bad weather, and if he doesn’t, that spring will be here soon. (Kids Domain)
La marmotte d’Amérique est aussi connue sous le nom de « Woodchuck ». Groundhog day peut donc être l’occasion d’apprendre le virelangue :
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck
if a woodchuck could chuck wood ?
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could,
and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would
if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Here’s a little groundhog,
furry and brown,
He’s popping up
to look around.
If he sees his shadow,
down he’ll go.
Then six more weeks of winter
oh, no !
